When it comes to party entertainment, nothing beats a live band. Live bands bring an energy level that’s unparalleled by other entertainers, ensuring that your crowd stays hyped the whole night. And because no live performance is ever the same twice, you’re guaranteed a unique experience.
Considering hiring a live band for your next soiree? Here are some things to consider before booking.
1. Neighborhood volume restrictions
Before putting down a deposit to save your date, be sure to look into your neighborhood’s volume restrictions. If you live in a more rural area, this may not be a concern, but if you plan to host in a more residential area, you’ll want to avoid disgruntled neighbors or unwanted interruptions by the authorities.
If research into city codes isn’t your thing, you have two options: Find an acoustic group, or hire a band that supplies their own PA system for easy volume changes (more on this later).
2. Song list diversity
If you’re like most hosts, your guest list is probably a pretty diverse group with music tastes to match. So if you want them to enjoy your party, it’s important to find a band that can play a variety of different styles and genres. Look for a group with a large song list that spans several decades so that there’s something for everyone. Need some inspiration? 3. Space and time required to set up
Ever find yourself needing some elbow room at a party? We do, too. A lively crowd is AWESOME, but any band you hire will need a certain amount of space to set up their equipment and play well (we always ask for a space that’s at least 15 feet wide and 12 feet deep). This gives us enough room to do our thing without getting in guests’ way as they show off their moves.
4. Equipment required/provided
Unless you have a ton of spare amps and mics lying around your house, you’ll need to find a band that supplies their own equipment. And if the group takes it a step further and provides their own PA and lighting, it’s even better. This ensures your party has a professional production quality and provides a flawless experience for your guests.
